“If you have one person you’re influenced by,
everyone will say you’re the next whoever.
But if you rip off a hundred people,
everyone will say you’re so original!”.

Austin Kleon (2022)
In his book “Steal Like an Artist”, Austin Kleon encourages us to “steal” what we love from our heroes; but in a wise way, so we don’t aim to look like them, but we learn how to see the world like they do.
I’ve always liked the idea of bringing several of my “heroes” to the classroom, to let them share their knowledge with me and with my students. As Francis Ford Coppola would say, their voices help me find my own voice! I want my students to be surrounded by as many brilliant people as possible, so their vast repertoire may help them find their own voices and build their own paths. I wish the experiences my students have in school may support their journey to become unique professionals and distinctive individuals.
Live-Virtual Talks:
These are two remarkable guest speakers whose talks were given to larger audiences, outside of the classroom. I promoted, organized, and raised funds for these live-virtual talks, so more people, from inside and outside of the college community, could participate:
